Prayer Watch – Just Pray ~ By Deacon Edward Hill

by | Jun 8, 2026

There’s a song by Donnie McClurkin called “Purple” that spoke deeply to me during a very difficult season in my life. One line in the chorus says, “Just praise through your struggles and through your pain. Just praise through the storm, yes through the rain.” At first, I misheard the word praise as pray, so every time I heard praise, I replaced it with “pray.” In many ways, it still fit. I began telling myself: Just pray through your struggles and through your pain. Just pray through the storm, yes through the rain. That mindset helped me understand that prayer is how we really connect with our Father in heaven—the One who truly understands us.

Prayer is not only a place for our struggles, sadness, and grief, but also for our joy, hopes, and dreams. It is more than seeking solutions to problems; it is about drawing closer to the Great I Am. Prayer invites God into every part of our lives. It is aboutspeaking and listening, encouragement and correction, giving and receiving between us and God. He loves us and desires to commune with us through intimate, personal, and revealing ways. Scripture accents God’s desire for us to come to Him in prayer. Read – 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Philippians 4:6, or Luke 18:1

God wants us to talk with and listen to Him. He desires a relationship built on honesty, trust, transparency, and faith. Prayer should be a journey of discovery, where we continually seek to know more about the Father, allowing Him into every part of our lives. So, bring your worries, joys, and dreams to the Lord. He is waiting to hear from you and to speak to your heart. Just pray.

Prayer

Father, thank you for being there for us through our challenges and victories. Thank you for loving us so much and for creating a path to you through your Son, Jesus. Help us to seek you more and to desire a deeper connection with you through prayer. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
